Austrian Philharmonic One Ounce Silver Coins

A new release for 2008 from the Austrian Mint, a one oz Philharmonic using silver with a purity of 99.9%.

The 2009 1oz silver Philharmonica is in stock now for immediate delivery.

Denomination

The denomination, or face value of this one oz coin is 1.50 Euro.

The Austrian Mint explains more about this silver investment 1 oz coin:

"The face value of a bullion coin is appreciably lower than the value of its metal content. The somewhat unusual face value of 1.50 Euro on the new coin is explained by the fact that both the 1 Euro and 2 Euro are reserved for ordinary circulation in Europe."

Design

The design of the one ounce silver Vienna Philharmonic coin is almost identical to the gold philharmonicas, that has been produced since 1989. The only noticeable differences are the words "1 Unze Feinsilber" on the obverse - which translates as "1 ounce fine silver", "Silber" translates as "Silver" on the reverse, and the fact that the silver version has a smooth edge.

Obverse

The great organ in the Golden Hall in Vienna's concert hall (Musikverein) is the theme for the obverse side of the one ounce silver coin. This is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Also featured on this side of the one ounce silver coin are the face value in Euros plus the weight, fineness and year of issue.

Reverse

A harmonious design of musical instruments representing the world famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. WIENER PHILHARMONIKER and the word "Silber" feature on this 1 oz silver investment coin.
