16th August 2010 - due to unforeseen issues Anglo Irish Gold Limited has suspended sales of silver coins, a page explaining the issues has been added to our website. 13th September update - the Revenue Commissioners have informed us that they regard silver coins as subject to VAT, which means we are obliged to charge 23% VAT on them. Clearly the Revenue Commissioners don't want Ireland to benefit from the business. We will still be selling gold at the lowest premiums, but we suggest you buy your silver from Germany where the VAT rate is 7% or the UK where the VAT rate is 20%. We don't like suggesting people spend their money and so benefit other countries but 23% vat is just not sensible.

The Irish Central Bank sells silver coins without VAT, we have pointed this out to the Revenue Commissioners who has said that they will investigate, we want to see the rules applied equally to all sellers and think it unfair that a government organisation can operate differently from commercial sellers.

Anglo Irish Gold Limited was established to bring the benefits of VAT exempt sales of silver coins and gold bullion to residents of the Irish Republic and other EU member states. Due to unforeseen circumstances our Irish-resident director will be returning to the UK shortly from where all enquiries will be handled by email so you can be assured the same prompt attention that we have always given to customer enquiries. We are working towards establishing a secure stock-holding facility within Ireland from where orders will be dispatched, until this is working orders will be sent from the UK. This means that only gold can be dispatched without VAT. We apologise for the inconvenience to prospective silver purchasers.

You can send your bullion coins to us, our buying team will respond with today's price which you can either accept of decline. If you decline we ask you to pay the return postage on your gold, it's as simple as that.
